Presenters
Maia Becker
Maia is a senior director on the Responsible Investment team at RBC GAM. In this role, she leads Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Research and Policy and works closely with global investment teams to provide strategic advice, insights and research on the integration of ESG factors into the investment approach, with a key focus on RBC GAM’s approach to climate change and net zero ambition. Maia first joined the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) in 2016, playing a lead role in RBC’s environmental and social risk management program, before joining RBC GAM in 2019. Prior to RBC, she spent over 10 years working with government and local and international non-profit organizations leading sustainability strategy, policy, and program development in the transportation, forestry, mining, and building sectors. Maia started her career in the investment industry in 2016.
Jeff Chamberlain
Dr. Chamberlain is a proven leader with a long record of industrial product R&D and commercialization success in energy, integrated circuit, and water treatment technology. Dr. Chamberlain’s industrial experience is complemented by his ten years leading the energy storage initiatives at Argonne National Laboratory. In collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy, Jeff led the effort to successfully transfer advanced battery technology from Argonne to LG Chem, BASF, General Motors, Toda Kogyo, General Electric, and others. Dr. Chamberlain also led the team that was awarded $120 million from the U.S. Department of Energy to develop advanced energy storage technologies for transportation and the grid, through a U.S. consortium of innovators from MIT across the country to Berkeley and Stanford. Jeff received his Ph.D. in the Physical Chemistry of Surfaces from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Krishna Chintalapalli
Krishna Chintalapalli is a Portfolio Manager of the Parnassus Value Equity Fund and a Senior Research Analyst. Mr. Chintalapalli has responsibility for portfolio management for the firm’s Value Equity strategy and firmwide research. Prior to joining Parnassus in 2022, Mr. Chintalapalli was a Research Analyst and then Vice President of Global Equities at Ariel Investments. He was also a Strategy Manager at PwC Strategy&, a Consultant at CMA Strategy Consulting (now part of E&Y Parthenon) and a Technical Lead at Aricent Group (now part of Capgemini). Mr. Chintalapalli received his bachelor’s degree in engineering from West Bengal University of Technology and his master’s degree in business administration from Cornell University.
Matthew Diserio
Matthew Diseriois the Co-Founder and President of Water Asset Management LLC (“WAM”). WAM is a leading water industry-focused fund manager and serves as sub-advisor on the Schafer Cullen Water Asset Management Impact Strategy. Mr. Diserio has been a guest lecturer on the water industry and water policy at Babson College, the Brooking’s Institute, Harvard’s Kennedy School of Business, Kellogg School of Management, Wharton Business School and the World Bank.
Prior to co-founding Water Asset Management in 2005, Mr. Diserio spent 25 years in fund management and securities analysis at Diserio Partners LP, Schafer Cullen, Water Street Capital, Paine Webber and Donaldson Lufkin and Jenrette.
Mr. Diserio graduated from Bowdoin College in 1981 with a B.A in Government and History.
Jeffrey Gitterman
Jeff Gitterman is a widely recognized leader in the climate change, ESG, and sustainable investing fields, and the creator of SMART (Sustainability Metrics Applied to Risk Tolerance)® Investing Solutions, a suite of global climate-aware allocation strategies available to financial advisory firms and individual investors.
With over 30 years of experience as a financial advisor, Jeff began realigning Gitterman Wealth Management, LLC towards sustainable investing in 2015. In 2020, the firm launched the Gitterman Asset Management brand to house its rapidly expanding ESG strategies, thought leadership, and practice management offerings for the financial advisory and institutional markets. Over the past several years, the firm has hosted many ESG and climate-focused events for financial advisors, including conferences at the United Nations Headquarters, the ESG Practice Playbook series of webinars in partnership with RIA Channel, and most recently, the Climate & Capital Conference at the New York Stock Exchange.
Jeff is also a co-host of TheIMPACT and The Great Repricing shows, which film at the New York Stock Exchange and air on fintech.tv. Noted as an “ESG Expert” by Financial Advisor magazine, he has also been featured in the past in Barron’s, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal and CNN, among many others. He also speaks frequently about ESG and climate-focused investing at conferences throughout the U.S., and in 2018 was named RIA “Thought Leader of the Year” by WealthManagement.com.
Jeff deeply believes that the migration of investor capital towards ESG, Sustainable, and Impact investing is one of, if not the most effective way to help realize the United Nations-supported Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and he is committed to helping both investors and other financial professionals navigate this rapidly growing landscape. He is also the author of Beyond Success: Redefining the Meaning of Prosperity, and an Associate Producer of the feature documentary film Planetary.

Chris Rooney, CIMA®
Chris leads Impax Asset Management’s advisor-facing sales team in North America, identifying business development opportunities in the intermediary space. In this role, Chris frequently presents on the risks and opportunities arising from the transition to a more sustainable economy.
He started his career at Boston-based John Hancock Financial Services as a wholesaler in 2010, before joining Impax in 2013 as a sales representative for the New England region in the US.
Chris has a bachelor’s degree in finance and Management from the University of New Hampshire, and holds the FINRA Series 6, 7 and 63 registrations. He is also a member of the Investment Management Consultants Association (IMCA) as a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®), and a registered representative of Foreside Financial Services, LLC.
Heather Smith
Heather researches and evaluates the ESG performance of companies for potential inclusion in Impax Asset Management portfolios. She is also a member of the firm’s Gender Analytics team. Heather helps oversee our proxy voting and coordinates its equity, diversity and inclusion-related shareholder engagements.
Heather has held this role since joining Impax in 2007. Prior to that, she was a legislative aide for the New Hampshire State Senate.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of New Hampshire and an MBA from the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics from the same university.
Alex Thaler
Alex Thaler is a startup founder, software engineer, and former corporate attorney. Prior to founding iconik, Alex served as Head of Security, Privacy, and Compliance at AnyRoad, an Andreessen Horowitz-backed startup redefining data-driven insights in the experience economy. Alex received a BA from UC Berkeley and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and has been named as one of Inicio Ventures’ rising Latinx founders to watch.
